Back in the office today after an extended Easter break. Took my children to the Sealife centre in B’ham yesterday which was a lovely day out.
I’ve come into a huge long list of emails, the price for taking a few days off I fear.
We are busy making card samples of new ranges and as always working on jewellery.
As I’ve been off for a few days I thought I’d leave you with this weeks wise words/quotes.
My quote this week are about habits:
The chains of habit are generally too small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken. ~Samuel Johnson
A habit is something you can do without thinking – which is why most of us have so many of them. ~Frank A. Clark
Bad habits are easier to abandon today than tomorrow. ~Yiddish Proverb
The unfortunate thing about this world is that good habits are so much easier to give up than bad ones. ~Somerset Maugham
Habits are at first cobwebs, then cables. ~Spanish Proverb
The easier it is to do, the harder it is to change. ~Eng’s Principle
To fall into a habit is to begin to cease to be. ~Miguel de Unamuno, The Tragic Sense of Life
Back tomorrow.
Thought it was best to say it today, while I type this slowly, having sliced my finger with a scalpul this afternoon cutting out some card! after all these years I really should know better!
Ouch was a word which sprang to mind.
Its been a busy day and I am looking forward to a few days off.
Back next week.
Errr what a horrible wet day. I am starting to sound like a daily weather report!
My wise words/quotes today are all about, ‘letting things unfold and not being in such a hurry’ sometimes no matter how much of rush we are in to see something resolved or to find a new course, it can be best just to allow the situation to take it’s course, very profound for a Wednesday morning!
God made time, but man made haste. ~Irish Proverb
Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. ~Lao Tzu
If you complain about the world moving too fast, slow down. ~Mike Dolan,
Waiting is one of life’s hardships. ~Lemony Snicket
I don’t know why it is we are in such a hurry to get up when we fall down. You might think we would lie there and rest for a while. ~Max Eastman
What are we up to at Lello today? making card samples with a few helpers in today, finalising Valentines 2013 and beginging the new mock ups of those and planning jewellery.
Today I am wearing our lovely Natalie brooch made up of ivory glass pearls, very pretty and goes with most things. Also available in grey.
I also snapped a picture of my 5 year old daughter this morning who loves jewellery, here are two of her own creations! I sometimes take beads and elastic home with me so she can make her own. For her 5th birthday we held a Lello make your own jewellery party, it went down a storm!
Back tomorrow with some wise words for Wednesday.

Where’s the sun gone after such a lovely day yesterday? and with it being the Easter hols for the kids, it’s not great, mind you it won’t stop them playing outside.
Apologies for my lack of blog updates last Thursday and Friday.
Today is a catch up and planning day while Fiona continues to design the last few Valentines cards for 2013. We then have the process of handmaking the mock ups which as always are very time consuming and ‘fiddly’ but I’m sure they will look great when they are done. I will upload a few images when they are complete.
Log on tomorrow for what are we wearing at Lello today.
Looking forward to a few days off at the end of the week to do some ‘Eastery’ things.
How lovely it is outside! I had to pop out this morning for work and would have loved nothing better than to have sat in the sun. Let’s hope it’s still nice at the weekend when I hope to get time to enjoy it.
Busy busy here at Lello today, Fiona is designing Valentines cards and I am working through orders and stock.
My quotes for today? well as I have a slight headache! I thought I’d base it on things that may cause you a headache and about complaining. Doing my best not to!
You can overcome anything if you don’t bellyache. ~Bernard M. Baruch
Oh, wouldn’t the world seem dull and flat with nothing whatever to grumble at? ~W.S. Gilbert
Untold suffering seldom is. ~Franklin P. Jones
I can’t complain, but sometimes I still do. ~Joe Walsh
Do not listen to those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. ~Og Mandino
Back tomorrow with some more Lello news.
Today I am sporting one of our new summer designs, a fabulous antique metal and colourful beaded Russian doll necklace. I love it!!
It’s doesn’t quite go with my navy cardi, I admit… but you can imagine how it would look with a lovely white cotton or linen top, certainly the ‘hero’ piece in our new collection. Strung on a chunky open antique metal finish chain with green and pink gingham buttons, green acrylic leaves and purple & pink acrylic roses. Also comes with a long matching necklace with large Russian doll and a chunky bracelet too.
Back tomorrow with some Wednesday’s Wise words and Quotes.
We have the sun streaming though our windows this morning at Lello, it’s lovely.
Lots of emails to catch up on this morning, I think it will be a day spent, getting on top of everything that is to follow this week and putting in place times lines of projects to be completed throughout the rest of this year.
Lots of jewellery spec’s to finish also.
Back tomorrow with ‘what are we wearing at Lello’.
After my running around yesterday, I was a very happy mummy last night after 2 wonderful school reports for my children, we treated them to dinner out along with lots of praise.
Back to Lello Life and I have been as I was yesterday ordering bits and pieces from all over the place to top up some of our depleting in-house supplies of bows and envelopes etc. so we are able to carry on designing more lovely new ranges of greeting cards.
I am also in the midst of jewellery spec’s and costings which are labour intensive but essential we get them right and accurate. This will now take the rest of the day to complete and no doubt the first half of next week too.
Fiona meanwhile is working on Valentines cards for 2013 amongst other projects.
Back on Monday, have a great weekend.
Not only have I made a quick escape to the local Opticians this morning, there and back in 25 minutes, not bad going. (I have been advised to not stare at my computer for long periods of time -mm easier said than done)! but I also have parents evening late afternoon for my 2 children. I am pretty sure both will have glowing reports but I guess you never know?
All of my morning has been spent costing charms and having my head in a stock control sheet which I have been working on for a few days now.
Ordering of bits and pieces, bows and envelopes and that sort of thing, quite an organisational day so far.
We are busily working on a whole new project for cards for 2013 and in the midst of mocking up another range of samples.
Lastly I will leave you with an image from about 2005 when we first exhibited our jewellery at the Spring Fair NEC. You can just see it on the back table, there were only about 16 bracelets? and now we have over 200 lines! The original aim was to sell bags of beads and elastic for retailers to sell so customers could make their own. However when the retailers saw the samples of what could be made, they wanted the actual bracelet and no one was interested in the bead packs!! good job too!
Back tomorrow with more Lello news.
