It’s a funny day today, can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe it is to do with the kids going back to school tomorrow, who knows?. I am working through my list of things to do as I always do; working on the new brochure, jewellery costs and plans, new agents and so on. But at the same time I have a mild sense of panic behind the scenes thinking I have forgotten something, I am sure I haven’t!! Hence my wise words today are about school, roll on the work/school routine.

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. ~Sydney J. Harris

You send your child to the schoolmaster, but ’tis the schoolboys who educate him. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. ~John Dewey

There are three good reasons to be a teacher – June, July, and August. ~Author Unknown

A cross-eyed teacher can keep twice the number of children in order than any other, because the pupils do not know who she’s looking at. ~Four Hundred Laughs: Or, Fun Without Vulgarity, compiled and edited by John R. Kemble, 1902

Back tomorrow with more…….

Today Fiona is wearing our ‘diamond’ bracelet made from acrylic gems in a diamind shape on a leather wrap around strap. £8.00.

Rainy day

Back to the world of design today now that Fiona has returned from holiday. She is already tapping away at her Mac. Artwork for new card ranges I am told.
I am entertaining our Scottish agents who sell Lello cards and jewellery who are due here at lunchtime. I have samples to get ready and jewellery to approve today.

a thought for today: learn how to say no! Practise. Say it at least once everyday and you know what? you will get better at it!

This week it has been about jewellery and making sure all our new designs for Aut/Wint are correct. Meeting new sales people and entertaining our Scottish agents tomorrow. A week of costings, checking, revising and organisation.
back tomorrow with some more news from Lello.

Back after a very short but lovely break at the seaside with my family. Hence my wise words today are about holiday’s………
A holiday is what you take when you can no longer take what you’ve been taking. ~Earl Wilson

We hit the sunny beaches where we occupy ourselves keeping the sun off our skin, the saltwater off our bodies, and the sand out of our belongings. ~Erma Bombeck

Holiday: a period of travel and relaxation when you take twice the clothes and half the money you need. ~Author Unknown

Holidays used to be a luxury, but in today’s world it has become a necessity. ~Author Unknown

If we would only give, just once, the same amount of reflection to what we want to get out of life that we give to the question of what to do with a two weeks’ holiday, we would be startled at our false standards and the aimless procession of our busy days. ~Dorothy Canfield Fisher

The Big Tidy

As well as getting orders out today I am about to embark on a big tidy up. We have been working on a jewellery project for the past week or so and although we need to return to it in a weeks time there is a need to get this place straight. You’ve never seen so many beads everywhere!
Lots of chasing of costs and new designs to do later today but only once I have rolled up my sleeves and got stuck in.

No updates on the Lello blog Mon and Tue while I enjoy a couple of days off. Back next Wed.

Part of our plan for our Spring Summer jewellery for 2012 is to bring back a few old favourites. When our jewellery lines were first launched back in 2006 we were taken by complete surprise at how popular it all was. The following season we brought out some pretty shell bracelets in clear, pink and aubergine which flew out.

With this in mind and to add to all the lovely new lines we will launch we thought we would consider giving the three designs below a new lease of life! many of our customers we have now will not have seen these lines and I am sure anyone who has will once again snap them up! so here is a sneak preview!:

Back in the office this morning after being out all day yesterday.
Catching up on emails and and arranging activities for my children for the next few days. Hence today my wise words/quote are about son’s!

You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes, even if it’s just in your own eyes. ~Walter M. Schirra, Sr.

You are my sonshine. ~Author Unknown

Don’t wait to make your son a great man – make him a great boy. ~Author Unknown

When you teach your son, you teach your son’s son. ~The Talmud

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong. ~Charles Wadsworth

Giving your son a skill is better than giving him one thousand pieces of gold. ~Chinese Proverb

Too many to choose from and with my own wonderful 9yr old son in mind!

Lastly as I missed out ‘what are we wearing at Lello today’ yesterday I thought I’d add it in today. Below I am wearing our lovely antique metal finish ‘Alexa’ bracelet, a firm favourite with retailers. £9.00. A great bracelet which goes with anything!

Sunny Monday

We have a lot going on today at Lello,
meetings to repapare for, designs to finish, orders to get on with, samples to make.. so I’d better get on and do it.
No ‘what are we wearing at Lello tomorow’ as I am out all day so this will roll onto to Wed!

Stuffy I’d say in our office today. Still juggling the work/school holidays thing and our children have been packed off swimming this morning, watch out pool here they come!

Meanwhile in our calm office we have some help in today while we get to grips with rather a large project we are working on. We have new jewellery lines comming out of our ears!

We begin with mood/trend boards based on next seasons fashion trends and then loosely start coming up with jewellery designs based around what’s up and coming in fashion and what has sold well for us in the past. Sometimes we come up with totally brand new designs others we re-work to add some freshness to a best seller and a few lines we keep in as staple designs which sell all year round.

Look out for information about our jewellery SALE we are holding in Syston Leicester at the end of August. Massive bargains to be had!
