Or so it should being the last day of the school term.
My work really starts now!

Despite the lovely weather we are all in the office getting on with the work in hand, with a bit of weekend chat going on in the background. Lots to get done before the week finishes.

Back on Monday

Fiona and I had such a lovely day at the Retas, ‘Retail Industry Awards’ for greeting card shops held at the Dorchester in London yesterday.
Hence my feet were killing me after wearing some fabulous new heels! it was worth the pain.
We dined on beef wellington, clapped as the winners went up for their awards, laughed and joked at the table and enjoyed a ‘war time’ themed event. The goody bag was second to none and I had two very happy children who riffed through the contents when they got up this morning.

To add to the fun I won 1st prize in the raffle which was a voucher/s to stay in one of the ‘Hotel Du Vin’s chain of hotels. Having just checked online, they have some lovely hotels around the country! can’t wait!!

What are we up to at Lello today?:well wearing flip flops for a start and pricing lots of new jewellery, posting out mailers as well as designing some fab cards.

On a Tuesday we try to bring you images of the jewellery we are wearing, all by Lello of cause!

BUT, sometimes this blog does not want to play ball and will not upload my images, why? when I follow the same procedure every day?, I have no idea, maybe it just doesn’t want to sometimes.

As there will be no blog tomorrow (I am at a Greeting Card Retailer awards ceremony all day) I thought I’d leave you my Wednesday’s Wise Words today, the subject is patience ………

A man who is a master of patience is master of everything else.
George Savile

No road is too long for him who advances slowly and does not hurry, and no attainment is beyond his reach who equips himself with patience to achieve it.

- Jean de La Bruyere

Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. it’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.

- Barack Obama

We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world.

- Helen Keller

One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life.

- Chinese proverb

Back on Thursday

Lovely morning lets hope the sun stays for the school summer holidays as that will = happy kids.

What are we up to at Lello today? our days orders are already by the door waiting for the carrier to pick them up.
Fiona is busy with card designing and my list is long….., log on tomorrow for ‘what are we wearing at Lello today’.
Very much looking forward to Wednesday Fiona and I are attending the Reta’s (Retail Industry Awards) at the Dorchester in London, we last attended about 4 or 5 years ago so it will be a lovely (long overdue) day out. Lello is sponsoring the event’s goody bag with our ‘Gretal’ bracelet.

The weeks seem to be flying past at the moment and I can not believe that the schools in our area break up for the summer next Friday, where has the time gone?
I have the task like many working mums of getting through the holidays with child care and sports clubs in place, taking the odd day off here and there and doing my best to spend as much time as I can with the children but be at work 9-5, Mon to Fri.

Good luck to those of you who like me are working over the summer, those of you who work shifts and funny hours and those of you who don’t work but have to come up with something different everyday to keep your little ones occupied!

Meanwhile here at Lello we have a busy Friday ahead of us. Once I get through all my emails I will sit down with Fiona for a while and go through some of her new card designs, chase up our factories on prices for new jewellery lines and get some orders sent out.

Something I saw on facebook  this morning prompted me to leave you this quote today: If you really put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price. ~Author Unknown

I really wasn’t sure what to write this morning and have looked down lists of quotes trying to decide which ones to go for today, I opted for the subject of ‘worrying’, we all do it and sometimes over nothing, it doesn’t help us and it doesn’t solve anything, so here goes…..

If I had my life to live over, I would perhaps have more actual troubles but I’d have fewer imaginary ones. ~Don Herold

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday. ~Author Unknown

If things go wrong, don’t go with them. ~Roger Babson

Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight. ~Benjamin Franklin

Troubles are a lot like people – they grow bigger if you nurse them. ~Author Unknown

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one. ~Elbert Hubbard, The Note Book, 1927

A day of worry is more exhausting than a day of work.  ~John Lubbock

So let’s all stop worrying today and get on an do something worthwhile!

Lastly, a quick ‘what are we wearing at Lello today’, I am wearing an old favourite (still in stock) Our black Russian doll wooden bead necklace,

I’d hoped it might be a bit warmer this morning so stepped out the house in shorts. Whilst ok sat at my desk this morning I think I might be a tad cold this afternoon at my son’s sports day!!

Back to today, we have quite a few orders going out today and I have had to bring in some help as we start to get busier. Fiona is designing cards and really enjoying it, that might sound a bit ‘odd’ but now that all our companies focus is on our jewellery cards and albums (we no longer design for the Supermarkets as we had done for over 15 years) she can take more time with Lello’s new designs and I’d say has found a new lease of life. Although I am bound to say this, the new designs are looking lovely.

I will leave you today with a reminder of how lovely our Little Lello jewellery is! as modelled by Heidi below, bracelet necklace and hairband, this acrylic and wooden range also includes hairclips.

Please also note that you can now buy some of our jewellery lines online at www.bycarteblanche.co.uk along with their cute little Tatty Bear and friends…..

Lastly, a quick ‘what are we wearing at Lello today’, I am wearing an old favourite of mine (still in stock), our black Russian doll wooden bead necklace, £13.27, comes with matching bracelet, £7.15, one of our ‘quirkier’ designs but always a talking point!

Usually we show you a picture of the Lello jewellery we are wearing but today I thought I’d take a picture of Mary who is here on work experience this week.
Mary has made this pearl and ribbon necklace with matching bracelet/corsage!. Mary finishes with us on Friday and we hope she will have a chance to make a bit more jewellery to take home with her before she goes.

What are we up today? sending out a mail shot, designing new cards, contacting new customers and packing orders! back tomorrow with a few quotes for Wednesday.

Warm

It has been a busy Monday morning so far which is why at 1.45pm I am only just getting round to writing my blog.

Fiona has finished all our new Lello point of sale ideas. Having a back ground in point of sale and print helps us enormously. We have a range of little and large card board engineered ideas which at the moment will remain ’under wraps’ until we decide which design to go with or if indeed we need to re-work any of them.

This new in-store merchandising tool will give Lello real presence in retailers stores and enable them to display some of our jewellery on it. Needless to say that I can tell you it is predominently yellow!
I have been speaking to a few potential new export customers this morning which is very exciting and about to pack up a few samples to send to them.
Part of my week will be spent organising a mail shot we have going out over the next 2 weeks, it requires a lot of sticking of labels!!

Lastly we have Mary here on 2 weeks work experience, she has helped us with some packing, making cards and today we have set her a little project to make her own fashion accessories….. no making tea and photocopying here!! Mary is from a school in Melton Mowbray.

Back tomorrow with ‘what are we wearing at Lello today’.
